The TV was flashing the colorful stop motion Christmas movies that he loved, but he just couldn’t focus at the moment. Audrey just patted his knee. “They’ll be asleep soon,” She told him.

“We just sent them off ta bed. They’re not going ta pass out as soon as they ‘it the bloody mattress,”
Dimitri sighed, “I know.” Rudolph appeared on the screen and the two watched, Dimitri’s fingers still tapping.
“Are they asleep now?” Dimitri whispered.
“Almost,” Audrey told him.
“How are you so sure?”
“Can’t you hear ‘em?” She raised an eyebrow at him.
“No, I can’t hear anything,” He shook his head. Their sons hadn’t made a noise since they sent them to bed. What was she

“Oh, come on. You can't possibly hate Christmas,” He retorted, dropping the bag into his basket and heading to the next aisle. Delion followed unenthusiastically. “Hell, I don't even technically celebrate it, and I like it!”
“Bah,” Delion growled again. “Christmas is a stupid holiday for stupid people. It's never done me any good, so fuck it.”
“Oh, come on. You have to have at least on happy memory of Christmas! What did you do when you were a kid? I could see you staying up and waiting for Santa but then falling asleep in the hallway and your parents would have to-”

The BeginningHe told them, of course. He told those idiots everything, the whole damn story, including the blunder he'd made, and its consequences. Looking back on it later, he realized he had probably been in shock the whole time. It made sense, anyone would have been.
Soph was about twenty years old, and he'd been that way for a couple of years already, ever since the Hoarde had started attacking humanity from the past. The Hoarde was the result of a human creation, of course, like everything bad in the world, though no one else knew about them. Then again, no one else had undiluted access to the power of creation. Even he didn't know much about the Hoarde, only that they appeared through some tear in The Fabric of The World and started killing people off. They appeared at some point in
